How to select sandwich panel core (EPS / rockwool / PU)
Core material drives cost, weight, fire performance and climate suitability. Final choice follows signed drawings and destination requirements.
Core types
| Core | Typical use | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| EPS | Cost-sensitive, mild climate | Verify fire route with client |
| Rockwool | Fire-sensitive, kitchen/dorm interfaces | Common in mining/oil & gas specs |
| PU / PIR | Cold zones, high insulation | System certification per project |
Thickness
Wall panels typically 50–100 mm; roofs may be thicker for span and insulation. Coastal and cold sites often move from 50 mm to 75–100 mm after load and condensation review.
What to state in inquiry
Destination climate, nearest fire code reference, kitchen/canteen proximity to dormitories, and any client HSE specification number.
Typical specifications for reference only. Final dimensions, materials and quantities per signed drawings and order.
